High energy environs make for some of the best inshore fisheries of all. The surf certainly qualifies, and you’d be hard pressed to find a more diverse place to fish, both in the species and the tackle and method departments.

The surf differs from region to region. The rocky, sometimes tumultuous surf of much of the Northeast in the fall is worlds away from the typical crystal-clear, sandy placid Florida Gulf coast beach.

When the seas are up and it’s too windy to fish from a boat, shore-bound fishing is the only answer, however if the weather’s nice, attacking the shoreline from a boat can be just the ticket.
