SHOW DESCRIPTION
Tidal Ponds are as close as you’ll ever get to catching fish in a barrel. On big tides tidal ponds offer great fishing for a variety of gamefish, especially redfish and stripers. The “duck ponds” along the coast of central Gulf of Mexico are famous for reds. Reds use these areas to corral bait.
And if fishing in the barrel doesn’t work, when you drain it, you’ll have your chance. Reds, trout, stripers, flounder and weakfish all sit near marsh drains and wait for the outgoing tide to bring supper to them.
Join editor Mike Conner as he fishes tidal ponds for stripers and blues near the mouth of the Connecticut river and then Jeff Weakley heads to the bayou for reds.
